What is Visual Fault Locator? The Visual Fault Locator (VFL) is a compact, handheld tool used in fiber optic networks to identify and troubleshoot issues in optical fibers. It emits a visible red laser light (typically at a wavelength of 650 nm) into the fiber, enabling technicians to visually locate breaks, bends, faulty splices, and other defects. It can also be applied to identify the connectors in patch panels and identify the fibers during splicing operation.
